Grigson Confirms Luck(y) Pick

Last updated on Wednesday, April 25, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - As potential draftees and team officials arrive in New York City for tomorrow night’s opening round of the N-F-L draft, Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson confirmed the worst-kept secret in the league - the Colts will take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick.

Grigson made his comments following a voluntary minicamp practice at the team's headquarters on Tuesday.

Reports confirmed by league sources last week said that the Colts had already informed Luck of the decision.

Luck has long been considered the favorite to be taken by Indianapolis with the top pick, but the team had also considered selecting Baylor quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

The Colts are looking for a quarterback after releasing Peyton Manning last month. The four-time league MVP missed all of last season following neck surgery. Without Manning in the lineup, the Colts fell to 2-and-14 last season which allowed them to earn the number one overall pick in this week's draft.
