Gary Harris Named Indiana Mr. Basketball For 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Gary Harris of Hamilton Southeastern is Indiana Mr. Basketball for 2012.

Harris, who will play college basketball at Michigan State, averaged 25.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 3.9 assists for the 22-3 Royals this season.

In the closest race since 2005, the 6-foot-5 Harris received 154 votes from the state's coaches and media for the state's top individual senior award.

Indiana University recruit Yogi Ferrell of Park Tudor was second with 103 votes, Butler-bound Kellen Dunham of Pendleton Heights third with 34 and Gary Lake Central's Glenn Robinson III, who is headed to Michigan, fourth with 11.

Ferrell, a 5-11 point guard, averaged 18.5 points per game, 3.1 rebounds and 6.6 assists in leading Park Tudor (26-2) to its second straight Class 2A state championship.

Both Harris and Ferrell recently competed in the McDonald's High School All-American Game in Chicago.
