(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - KV Racing Technology announced Thursday that Rubens Barrichello has joined the team and will participate in the full 2012 Izod IndyCar Series season.

Barrichello has agreed to a one-year deal. The 39-year-old veteran of 19 seasons in Formula One participated in tests with KV at Sebring and at Infineon Raceway before signing on.

He recorded eleven wins and 14 poles in his F1 career including a victory at the 2002 United States Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Barrichello's best years were at Ferrari where he was Michael Schumacher's teammate. He drove the past two years for Williams.

KV also announced that veteran driver Tony Kanaan will be back, agreeing to a two-year contract.

Earlier this week, KV announced that EJ Viso was returning to the team for his third season.

The Indianapolis-based team is owned by former Champ Car World Series Principal Kevin Kalkhoven and 1996 Cart Indycar Series Champion Jimmy Vasser.
