Last updated on Thursday, March 8, 2012

(UNDATED) - The Purdue Boilermakers open their Big Ten tournament run tonight when they take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The sixth-seeded Boilers had a three-game winning streak snapped when they dropped their regular season finale against IU in Bloomington last Sunday. The Cornhuskers are the number-eleven seed and enter the tournament riding a four-game losing streak. That skid started with an 83-65 loss to Purdue at Mackey Arena on February 22nd - the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season.

Tonight's winner advances to Friday's quarterfinals where they will face third-seeded Ohio State in tomorrow's final game.

Hoosiers Take On Nittany Lions Thursday Afternoon

In men's college basketball, the Indiana Hoosiers open play in the Big Ten men's tournament this afternoon against Penn State in Indianapolis.

The Hoosiers are the number-five seed in the tournament and enter the postseason having won four-straight games and seven of their last eight. The Nittany lions are the number-twelve seed and closed out their regular season by losing four in a row.

The Hoosiers swept the season series, winning 88-82 at University Park on January 8th and blowing out the Lions 73-54 January 22nd in Bloomington.

Today's winner gets fourth-seeded Wisconsin Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals.

Fighting Irish Kick Off Big East Tournament

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame open play in the Big East tournament tonight when they face South Florida.

The Irish are the number-three seed in the conference and enter the postseason with a 21-and-10 record. They closed out the regular season with a 75-69 win over providence last Friday night in South Bend.

The Bulls are the number-six seed and are coming off a 56-47 win over Villanova last night. Notre Dame won the lone regular-season meeting between the teams, knocking off South Florida 60-49 at Purcell Pavilion on January 10th.

Tonight's winner will advance to the semifinals where they will take on the winner of tonight's early game between Louisville and Marquette.
