(UNDATED) - In men’s college basketball, the Butler Bulldogs halted a two-game skid with a 64-53 win over Wright State at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Chrishawn Hopkins led a balanced Butler attack with 13 points. Andrew Smith finished with eleven points, Erik Fromm scored ten and Roosevelt Jones pulled down eleven rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Armond Battle was the only raider to reach double figures, finishing with a game-high 18 points as Wright State falls to 11-and-13, 6-and-6 in Horizon League play.

Butler improves to 13-and-11, 7-and-5 in the conference heading to a game with Detroit Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.

Valpo Tops Titans

Ryan Broekhoff scored 26 points to lead the Valparaiso Crusaders to a 78-73 win over Detroit. Richie Edwards added 16 points off the bench and Keven Van Wijk finished with ten points as Valpo improves to 9-and-2 at the Arc this season.

Ray McCallum, Chase Simon and Eli Holman scored 14 points apiece for the Titans as Detroit has a three-game winning streak snapped. The Titans drop to 12-and-12, 6-and-6 in the Horizon League. The Crusaders are 16-and-8, 9-and-3 in conference play.

Valpo hosts Wright State on Saturday night.

Leathernecks Continue Winning Streak

Western Illinois ran its winning streak to four games as the leathernecks beat IPFW 62-52. Terell Parks lead WIU with 15 points and eleven rebounds as the Leathernecks improve to 13-and-8, 7-and-5 in the Summit League.

Frank Gaines was the lone Mastodon to reach double figures, scoring a game-high 20 points. No other IPFW player scored more than six.

The Dons drop to 10-and-12, 4-and-9 in the Summit heading to a showdown with in-state rival IUPUI Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.
