Colts Fire Special Teams Coordinator Rychleski

Last updated on Thursday, January 5, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts announced Wednesday that the contract of Special Teams Coordinator Ray Rychleski will not be renewed.

Rychleski and defensive coordinator Larry Coyer were the two significant hires made by Head Coach Jim Caldwell when Caldwell succeeded Tony Dungy in 2009.

Coyer was fired in November.

In a statement released by the team, Caldwell said that while special teams showed some improvement as the season progressed, he felt it was time to make a change.

Caldwell's job status is expected to be evaluated once the Colts hire a new general manager.

The Colts announced that they have signed three players to reserve/future contracts.

Offensive Lineman Mike Tepper spent six games on the active roster in 2011 while defensive tackle Ollie Ogbu and offensive guard Matt Murphy were on the practice squad this past season.

Tepper made his NFL debut at Tampa Bay in week four and started four games with the Colts.

Ogbu was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in July and was impressive during the preseason.

Murphy was originally signed by Atlanta as an undrafted free agent last summer and was signed to the Colts' practice squad in late September.
