(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers officially introduced new forward David West to the media on Tuesday.
West signed a reported two-year, 20-million dollar deal to join the Pacers as a free agent from the New Orleans Hornets.
West is a two-time All-Star who averaged almost 19 points and 7.6 rebounds in 70 games last season.
Over his eight-year NBA career he has averaged 16.3 points and 7.3 boards per contest. West is coming off knee surgery after tearing an ACL last March.
He is expected to be the Pacers' starting power forward with Tyler Hansbrough coming off the bench.
A proposed deal that would have sent free agent forward Josh McRoberts from the Pacers to Memphis in a sign-and-trade fell apart Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers' target in the deal, Grizzlies' guard OJ Mayo, was pulled off the table and McRoberts agreed to a straight two-year free agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers later in the day.
With the Mayo option apparently gone, Pacers President Larry Bird and General Manager David Morway reportedly are going hard after free agent guard Jamal Crawford.
The Indianapolis Star reports that Crawford turned down a two-year, ten-million-dollar offer from the Pacers yesterday.
