(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers have landed a power forward. Several media outlets are reporting that the Pacers have come to terms with veteran David West.
The deal is reportedly for two years at 20 million dollars. The Pacers have yet to confirm the signing of the former all-star.
West opted out of the final year of his deal with the New Orleans Hornets despite suffering a season-ending ACL tear last March.
The eight-year veteran has averaged just under 19 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest in his career.
West had been negotiating with the Boston Celtics on a three-year, 24-million dollar deal with a non-guaranteed fourth year.
The Celtics would have needed to complete a sign-and-trade deal with the Hornets in order to make the deal with West.
Reports are that Boston was still working on the deal when West decided to take the Pacers offer, which is for one less year but for more annual money.
West, former Purdue star Carl Landry, Nene and Paul Millsap were on the short list of power forward targets for Pacers President Larry Bird and General Manager David Morway.
The team has already re-signed 12-year veteran power forward Jeff Foster and added former Portland Trail Blazers power forward Jeff Pendergraph.
