(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay says he does not think quarterback Peyton Manning will play in a game during the 2011 season.
Irsay told reporters that with just four games remaining, he thinks there won't be enough time for the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player to get back onto the playing field.
The Colts have not placed manning on injured reserve in the hope that he can at least participate in practice before the season ends.
He underwent anterior fusion surgery on his neck on September 8th and just received medical approval to begin an aggressive rehabilitation program last week.
The Colts have a big decision to make as manning is due a 28-million-dollar team option bonus in March and the Colts will likely have the top overall pick in April's NFL Draft.
Should the team decide not to pay the bonus, the Super Bowl 41 MVP could become an unrestricted free agent.
Linebacker AJ Edds and wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez were the only two Colts who sat out Thursday's practice due to injury.
Veterans Robert Mathis, Jeff Saturday and Reggie Wayne were given yesterday off to rest while linebackers Pat Angerer and Ernie Sims practiced on a limited basis after missing Wednesday's workout.
Tight ends Dallas Clark and Brody Eldridge and fullback Ryan Mahaffey continue to practice fully after being sidelined for last Sunday's loss at New England.
The Colts face the Ravens Sunday afternoon in Baltimore. The Colts are 0-12 while the Ravens are 9-3.
