(NEW YORK, NY) - Another round of NBA labor talks came and went on Wednesday as the sides try to end the almost five-month-old lockout in time to spare the league’s slate of Christmas day games.
The two sides took the holiday off and will return to the table Friday.
Reports say that this week's talks are aimed more at settling lawsuits than reaching a new collective bargaining agreement.
The Players Association filed a "disclaimer of interest" last week to dissolve, opening the door for the players to sue the league under antitrust laws.
Lawyers for both sides were involved in Wednesday's discussions along with NBA Commissioner David Stern and NBPA Executive Director Billy Hunter.
Time is running out for the sides to sort out the legal mess and then agree to a new CBA in time to save the Christmas games, which mark the start of the league's network television schedule with ABC.
Stern has said that the NBA will need 30 days to allow for a free agency period and a compressed training camp schedule before the regular season begins.
