Cubs Fire Quade After One Full Season As Manager

Last updated on Thursday, November 3, 2011

(CHICAGO, IL) - The Chicago Cubs fired manager Mike Quade on Tuesday.

New Team President Theo Epstein says he is looking to start with a clean slate as the Cubs look for someone around whom they can build a foundation for sustained success.

Epstein did say that he is looking for someone with previous managerial or coaching experience at the Major League level, which seems to eliminate fan-favorite Ryne Sandberg, who has not managed above the Triple-A level.

Quade took over as Cubs manager when Lou Piniella retired in August of 2010 and went 95-104.

He had one year remaining on his contract worth one-million dollars.
