Bulldogs Knock Off Mocs Despite Poor Free Throw Shooting

Last updated on Wednesday, November 16, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Butler Bulldogs scratched their way to a 57-46 victory over the Chattanooga Mocs last night.

Butler did not have the game secure until the final buzzer, as poor free throw shooting and a crippling scoring drought in the second half kept the Mocs within striking distance.

With over two minutes to go in the game, Chase Stigall shook off a night of cold shooting to drain a three pointer and give the Bulldogs an eight point lead.

Stigall punctuated the contest with a two handed jam with just under a minute and-a-half to play.

Andrew Smith led Butler in scoring with 16 points.

Chrishawn Hopkins twelve points included three, 3 pointers, although Hopkins was just 3-for-10 behind the arc.

As a team, the Bulldogs made just 6-of-22 three pointers.

Butler is back at Hinkle Saturday when the seventh ranked Louisville Cardinals come to town.
