Boilermakers Fall To Crimson Tide In Puerto Rico

(UNDATED) - The Purdue Boilermakers suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 15th-ranked Alabama 65-56 in the championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan.

Trevor Releford led four players in double figures for the Crimson Tide, scoring a game-high 20 points.

Tony Mitchell had a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds with Jamychal Green also finishing with 14 points.

Robbie Hummel led the boilermakers with 17 points on 5-for-15 shooting.

Kelsey Barlow was the only other Purdue player to reach double figures with eleven points.

The Boilers fall to 4-1 while Alabama moves to 5-0.

Purdue returns to Mackey Arena to host Western Michigan on Wednesday night.

Darrell Lampley led four Eastern Michigan players in double figures with 16 points as the Eagles edged the IUPUI Jaguars 66-64.

Antonio Green finished with 14 points, Matt Balkema scored 13 and JR Sims added eleven as Eastern Michigan improves to 3-1.

IUPUI's Alex Young led all scorers with 21 points and 14 rebounds with Ian Chiles adding 17 points off the bench as the Jaguars dropped their third in a row to fall to 1-3.

The Jags return to action on Wednesday night when they face the Ball State Cardinals in Muncie.

The Valparaiso Crusaders won their fifth game in a row, knocking off Duquesne 84-68 in a 2K Sports Classic Game at the Arc in Valparaiso.

Kevin Van Wijk led all scorers with 22 points with Ryan Broekhoff scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for Valpo.

Kadeem Pantophet scored 14 points and Sean Johnson had 13 for the Dukes, who fall to 3-2.

The Crusaders improve to 5-1.

They will face third-ranked Ohio State Friday night in Columbus.

There are five games on tonight's schedule.

The Indiana Hoosiers host Gardner-Webb in a Hoosier Invitational game at Assembly Hall in Bloomington.

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame play 25th-ranked Missouri in the semifinals of the progressive CBE Classic in Kansas City.

The Butler Bulldogs are at Hinkle Fieldhouse to take on Savannah State.

The Indiana State Sycamores host the Green Bay Phoenix and IPFW faces Judson University in Fort Wayne.
