(ST. LOUIS, MO) - David Freese was the hero as the St. Louis Cardinals stayed alive in the World Series, defeating the Texas Rangers 10-9 in eleven innings.

The best-of-seven series is tied at three games apiece with the decisive seventh game tonight at Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals were one strike away from elimination twice.

Texas had a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the ninth with closer Neftali Feliz on the mound when Freese tied the game with a two-run triple.

Josh Hamilton hit a two-run home run in the top of the tenth to put the Rangers up 9-7.

St. Louis had scored one run in the tenth when Lance Berkman's two-out single tied the game at nine.

Freese led off the bottom of the eleventh by slamming a Mark Lowe pitch over the wall in center field to give the Redbirds the improbable win.
