Crean Commits Secondary Recruiting Violation

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University Basketball Coach Tom Crean committed a secondary recruiting violation involving impermissible contact with a recruit.

The university issued a statement saying that Crean made contact with the recruit on October 6th, one day after the period for contacting recruits ended.

Indiana self-reported the violation to the NCAA the same day.

Several reports say that Crean visited Hamilton Southeastern guard Gary Harris, a six-foot-four senior who is also being recruited by Kentucky, Purdue and Michigan State. reports that IU has docked itself two days on the recruiting trail as punishment for the violation.
