Carpenter Clips Franchitti To Pick Up First Career Win

(SPARTA, KY) - Ed Carpenter passed Dario Franchitti at the finish line to win the Kentucky Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway.

Franchitti came in second, a finish that lifted the Scotsman over Will Power for the lead in points with one race to go.

Power fell out of contention on lap 49 after his car was clipped by Ana Beatriz on pit row.

He finished 19th and now trails Franchitti by 18 points.

The 2011 IndyCar season concludes with the Izod IndyCar World Championships in Las Vegas on October 16th.
