(ST. LOUIS, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and made it stand up, getting past the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in game three of the National League Championship Series.
The Cardinals take a two-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven series.
Jon Jay, Albert Pujols and David Freese hit RBI doubles in the big inning with the fourth run scoring when Yadier Molina grounded into a double play.
St. Louis starter Chris Carpenter was not sharp, but did enough to get the win.
Carpenter allowed three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in five innings of work.
Game four is tonight in St. Louis.
Kyle Lohse is scheduled to start for the Cardinals with Randy Wolf going for Milwaukee.
