Twins Score Early, Hold On Late To Stop Streaking Sox

Last updated on Thursday, September 1, 2011

(CHICAGO, IL) - The Chicago White Sox’ five-game winning streak is over.

The Minnesota Twins scored six runs in the top of the first and held on for a 7-6 win over the streaking Sox.

Jason Kubel and Luke Hughes hit two-run homers off Chicago starter Jake Peavy in the opening inning.

Jason Repko added a solo shot off Jason Frasor in the seventh that proved to be the difference.

Paul Konerko drove in three runs for the White Sox with Brent Lillibridge adding a two-run home run.

The Sox' loss combined with Detroit's win over Kansas City puts Chicago six games behind the first-place Tigers in the AL Central.
