Indians Drop Game To The Basement Dwelling Royals 5-3

Last updated on Monday, August 1, 2011

(CLEVELAND, OH) - All the excitement surrounding the Cleveland Indians’ acquisition of Colorado Rockies star pitcher, Ubaldo Jimenez, was quickly snuffed out in a 5-to-3 loss to the basement dwelling Kansas City Royals.

Jimenez passed his physical yesterday and is expected to bolster the Indians pitching staff as they continue to challenge for the division title.

The Indians pulled within one in the eighth inning when Travis Hafner batted in a run on a fielder's choice ground out.

Alcides Escobar gave Kansas City a two run cushion in the ninth with an RBI single to center field.

Asdrubal Cabrera finished with three hits and two RBIs for the Indians.
