(ANDERSON, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts have signed first-round draft pick Anthony Castonzo.
The offensive lineman out of Boston College agreed to a reported four year, eight million dollar deal with the first three years of the contract guaranteed. A guarantee on the fourth year was the sticking point in the negotiations. Castonzo participated in Tuesday afternoon's practice and is expected to be the Colts' starting left tackle once he is up to speed on the offense.
The team needs a new left tackle after veteran free agent Charlie Johnson signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Colts announced the signings of a pair of veteran free agents on Tuesday.
Defensive lineman Jamaal Anderson joins the Colts after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons.
The 6-foot-6, 289 pounder can play all four line positions and was the eighth overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft out of Arkansas.
Linebacker Ernie Sims is a five-year veteran who spent the first four years of his career with Detroit and last season with Philadelphia.
Sims was taken by the lions with the ninth-overall pick in 2006 after playing collegiately at Florida State.
Both Anderson and Sims will be eligible to practice tomorrow.
There was a report late Tuesday night that the Colts will sign former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris.
Harris was the 14th overall pick in the 2004 draft.
The Colts also announced they have waived linebacker Darry Beckwith.
