(UNDATED) - In the American League yesterday, the Kansas City Royals kept the White Sox offense mostly quiet in a 4-2 win over Chicago.
Carlos Quentin and Alex Rios each had RBI singles in the first inning, but the Sox hitters labored to add anything more against the Royals.
Danny Duffy was sharp, coming fresh out of the minors to toss seven innings and strike out six.
Jake Peavy struck out five, but his three runs allowed were good enough to earn the loss.
The Cleveland Indians were unable to hold a one run lead in the ninth inning as the Minnesota Twins rallied to win, 2-1.
It was especially disappointing for Cleveland, who yesterday seemed to restore their first half dominance by sweeping the Twins in a day-night double header.
Justin Masterson kept the Twins off balance by pitching a four-hitter in seven and two thirds innings.
Chris Perez came on in the ninth inning to finish off the Twins and quickly retired the first batter.
After walking Joe Mauer, Mike Cuddyer ripped a double that put runners on second and third.
Jim Thome was intentionally walked to raise the possibility a game ending double play.
It was all for not, as Danny Valencia hit a single to left field which allowed Mauer and Cuddyer to score.
