(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Washington Nationals scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on to get past the Chicago Cubs 3-2.

Roger Bernadina and Danny Espinoza scored when Cubs second baseman Jeff Baker made a bad throw after fielding Laynce Nix' grounder.

Later in the first, Wilson Ramos drove home Washington's third run with an infield single.

Aramis Ramirez provided Chicago's offense in the sixth when he hit a two-run homer off Nationals starter Ross Detwiler.

Detwiler gets the win, allowing two runs on four hits in five and-a-third innings to move his record to 1-0.

Cubs starter Ramon Oritz allowed two earned runs on seven hits over six innings and was saddled with the loss to drop to 0-1.
