Marmol's Wild Pitch Allows Nationals To Score Game Winning Run

(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Washington Nationals scored a run in the bottom of the tenth inning without benefit of a hit as they got past the Chicago Cubs 5-4.

Jayson Werth led off the inning by drawing a walk from Marcus Mateo.

Livan Hernandez came up as a pinch hitter and bunted Werth to second.

The Cubs brought in Carlos Marmol and Werth stole third on Marmol's first pitch to Ivan Rodriguez.

Four pitches later, Marmol threw one to the backstop with Werth scoring on the wild pitch.

Werth also drove in two runs as did Laynce Nix.

Alfonso Soriano had a two-run single while Marlon Byrd came off the disabled list and went 2-3 with an RBI single.
