(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Jose Altuve hit an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning as the Houston Astros got past the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2.

Clint Barmes put the Astros on the board in the second with a two-run homer off Redbirds starter Chris Carpenter.

John Jay hit an RBI double for St. Louis in the fourth and the Cardinals tied the game on Yadier Molina's RBI single in the sixth.

Altuve's single scored Carlos Corporan with Michael Bourn scoring when the throw to the plate went to the backstop as the Astros snapped a five-game losing streak.

The Cardinals had the tying runs on base when Houston reliever Mark Melancon struck out Albert Pujols to end the game.

With the loss, St. Louis falls a half-game behind first-place Milwaukee in the NL Central.
