Marmol Blows Save Giving Up Six Runs In The Ninth Inning

(CHICAGO, IL) - The Houston Astros rocked Chicago closer Carlos Marmol in the ninth to pull out a 7-3 victory over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth, two coming on RBI doubles from Darwin Barney and Aramis Ramirez, to take a 3-1 lead.

Marmol came in to close out the game, but allowed a game-tying two-run double to pinch hitter Matt Downs, a go-ahead RBI single to Michael Bourn and a three-run homer to Hunter Pence.

Marmol retired just one batter while allowing six runs on five hits and a walk to take the loss, dropping to 1-2.
