Bumgarner Shines In Giants Victory

Last updated on Monday, June 27, 2011

(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) - Madison Bumgarner frustrated the Cleveland Indians for seven innings in the San Francisco Giants 3-to-1 victory yesterday.

After being torched for eight-runs by Minnesota last week, Bumgarner pitched one of his best games of the season. He allowed one-run in his seven innings pitched, and fanned eleven Indian hitters in the process.

In a sign that the Cleveland was done for the day, Jeremy Affeldt relieved Bumgarner in the eighth inning and struck out five more Cleveland batters.

Asdrubal Cabrera accounted for the one Cleveland run when he knocked-in Milton Bradley on a ground out to short in the sixth inning.

The Indians have lost three straight and trail Detroit by a game in the AL Central.
