(DARLINGTON, SC) - The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is at Darlington Raceway this weekend for Saturday night's Southern 500.

Qualifying is scheduled for this afternoon.

Carl Edwards enters the weekend holding a nine-point lead over Jimmie Johnson in the drivers' standings with last week's winner at Richmond, Kyle Busch, in third place 30 points back.

Pittsboro native Jeff Gordon is currently 16th in points but hopes to make up some ground at one of his better tracks.

Gordon has seven Darlington victories, trailing just David Pearson and Dale Earnhardt for wins at the track.

Gordon has recorded seven-straight top-five finishes at Darlington.
