Painter's New Contract Worth 2.4 Million A Season

(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - The price Purdue is paying to keep basketball coach Matt Painter in West Lafayette has been revealed.

Painter is scheduled to make an average salary of 2.4 million dollars over the life of his new eight-year deal.

Additionally, there are incentives in the contract for accomplishments on the court and the academic achievements of Boilermaker players.

Painter agreed to the new deal on Wednesday after being courted by the University of Missouri.

His old salary of 1.3 million dollars per year ranked eighth among the eleven Big Ten men's basketball coaches.

He is now one of the highest-paid in the conference.
