(CHICAGO, IL) - Pinch hitter Tyler Colvin's two-out double in the bottom of the tenth inning scored Geovany Soto from first base as the Chicago Cubs edged the San Diego Padres 1-0.

Kosuke Fukudome drew a one-out walk from San Diego reliever Chad Qualls in the tenth, but was erased at second base on Soto's fielder's choice grounder.

Colvin pinch hit for Carlos Marmol and hit the winning double to right field.

Neither starter figured in the decision.

Carlos Zambrano pitched eight innings for Chicago, allowing three hits and striking out ten while San Diego's Tim Stauffer allowed four hits in his seven shutout innings of work.
