Pat Knight Fired By Texas Tech After Three Seasons

Last updated on Tuesday, March 8, 2011

(LUBBOCK, TX) - Pat Knight is out as men’s basketball coach at Texas Tech.

Knight was fired on Monday, but he will coach the Red Raiders in this week's Big Twelve Tournament.

He is wrapping up his third full season in Lubbock after replacing his father, Bob Knight, as head coach of Texas Tech in February, 2008.

Pat Knight played for his dad at Indiana University from 1991 through 1995 and also served as an assistant coach with the Hoosiers.

He went 50-60 with the Red Raiders, his first college head coaching job.

Texas Tech did not reach the NCAA tournament in three seasons under Pat Knight.
