(UNDATED) - The Major League Baseball season opens on Thursday.

The defending National League Central Division Champion Cincinnati Reds open their season at home against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Reds will start the regular season without two of their projected starting pitchers - Johnny Cueto and Homer Bailey.

Edinson Volquez will get the start tomorrow against Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo.

The St. Louis Cardinals also open their season at home as they face the San Diego Padres.

The Redbirds will be without one of their key starting pitchers as Adam Wainwright underwent "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow and will miss the season.

Chris Carpenter starts tomorrow for St. Louis against the Padres' Tim Stauffer.
