Last updated on Friday, March 4, 2011

(SAN DIEGO, CA) - Former Indianapolis Colts Safety Bob Sanders has signed a one-year deal with the San Diego Chargers.

Sanders was the NFL's defensive player of the year in 2007 and was rewarded with a new, five-year contract following that season.

After signing the new deal, he played in just nine games with the Colts and was released last month.

The 30-year-old Sanders played in just one game for the Colts last season, suffering a torn biceps tendon in the season opener against Houston.
