Cardinals Pound Leake And Reds

Last updated on Tuesday, August 10, 2010

(CINCINNATI, OH) - The St. Louis Cardinals used a seven-run top of the fourth to beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-3.

The first six batters in the fourth reached base for the Cardinals with Skip Schumaker's grand slam off Cincinnati starter Mike Leake being the key blow.

That was more than enough for Chris Carpenter, who allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings to improve to 13-3.

The Reds saw their four-game winning streak come to an end as their lead over St. Louis in the NL Central is down to one game.
