Last updated on Monday, August 23, 2010

(MITCHELL) - The fifteenth ranked Brownstown Braves came into Terry Cole Field having lost only one meeting to the Jackets in the last 15 years, Friday night would be no different.

The Braves used a very potent running game and took advantage of mistakes by the Jackets to erupt to a 41-0 halftime lead, and finishing with a 48-12 opening night victory.

Brownstown opened the game with the ball and needed little time to find pay dirt.

Senior tailback Evan Eggersman scored on a 60 yard touchdown run less than 2 minutes into the game and senior lefty kicker Steffen Lewis pounded in the first of his several PAT attempts.

Mitchell would fumble the ball deep in their own territory on their first possession, Brownstown recovered to gain great field position and two plays later Eggersman scored from 17 yards out and the rout was on.

Brownstown would add three more touchdowns and two Lewis field goals in the second quarter to put the game outta reach by halftime.

Jordan Turpin scored on a 1 yard run in the third quarter to wrap up the scoring for the Braves.

Mitchell scored twice in the fourth quarter on a 10 yard Isaac Slaughter run and a 5 yard Ethan Reynolds scamper.

Eggersman led the Braves with 5 carries for 183 yards and three touchdowns, while Alex Grow paced the Jackets with 16 carries for 167 yards.

Mitchell (0-1) travels to 8th ranked Paoli (1-0) on Friday night, while Brownstown (1-0) travels to Charlestown (1-0).
