Last updated on Thursday, July 8, 2010

(DENVER, CO) - For the second-straight day, the St. Louis Cardinals could not hold onto a big lead and fell victim to a walk-off home run, losing to the Colorado Rockies 8-7.

St. Louis built a 5-0 lead and were up 7-4 in the eighth when Dexter Fowler tied the game with a three-run homer off Jason Motte.

Chris Iannetta led off the ninth by hammering a 3-2 pitch from Evan Maclane over the left field wall for the game-winner.

Maclane was making his major league debut. Matt Holliday went 4 for 4 with a pair of solo home runs and four runs scored in a losing effort for the Cardinals.

The Redbirds fall three games behind Cincinnati in the NL Central.
