Decision On New Chassis For IndyCar Series Expected In Two Weeks

Last updated on Thursday, July 1, 2010

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - An announcement on a new chassis package for the IndyCar Series has been pushed back two weeks.

The seven-man iconic committee was scheduled to make a decision on a new chassis by June 30th, but the IndyCar Series issued a release Wednesday saying a formal announcement will be made on July 14th.

Delta Wing, Lola, Bat and Dallara have submitted proposals for the new chassis. Dallara currently supplies all chassis in the series.

The new chassis and engine package is expected to be implemented for the 2012 IndyCar Series season.

The committee announced last month that a variety of manufacturers and configurations will be used for the new engines in 2012.
