Last updated on Tuesday, July 20, 2010

(CINCINNATI, OH) - The Cincinnati Reds remain a half-game behind St. Louis in the NL Central with their 7-2 win over the Washington Nationals.

The Reds took the lead for good in the second on two-run doubles from Drew Stubbs and starting pitcher Johnny Cueto.

Cueto gave up both Washington runs in the third as the Nationals cut the lead in half, but homers from Jonny Gomes and Miguel Cairo in the sixth gave the Reds some breathing room.

Cueto went six innings, allowing two runs on four hits to improve to 9-2.

Washington starter JD Martin took the loss to drop to 1-5.
