Silva Remains Perfect As Cubs Beat Pirates In A Makeup Game

(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Carlos Silva improved to 8-0 as the Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1 in the makeup of a game rained out last Wednesday.

Silva pitched seven innings, allowing a run on four hits to get the win.

Jeff Baker and Marlon Byrd drove in two runs apiece with Geovany Soto and Derrek Lee driving home Chicago's other runs.

Dana Eveland took the loss in his Pittsburgh debut, allowing three runs on six hits over five innings to fall to 3-5.

Eveland was picked up by the Pirates after being released by the Toronto Blue Jays last week.
