Pirates Snap Losing Streak As They Edge Cubs 2-1

(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Pinch hitter Bobby Crosby drove home the game-winning run with an RBI single in the eighth as the Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Chicago Cubs 2-1 to snap a five-game losing streak.

Geovany Soto gave Chicago a 1-0 lead with an RBI groundout in the second off Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf.

Garrett Jones tied the game when he launched a solo homer in the sixth off Cubs reliever James Russell. Neither starter figured in the decision.

Ohlendorf allowed a run over seven innings for Pittsburgh while Randy Wells allowed three hits over five shutout innings of work.

Evan Meek got the win for the Pirates while Sean Marshall took the loss for Chicago.
