Phillies Use Strong Pitching And Lots Of Runs To Blow Out Indians

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) - Joe Blanton pitched into the eighth inning as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cleveland Indians 12-3 to complete a sweep of the three-game series at Citizens Bank Park.

Blanton allowed three runs on eight hits in seven and two-thirds innings of work to improve to 3-5.

Catcher Dane Sardinha hit his first major league home run with Placido Polanco, Jayson Werth and Wilson Valdez driving in two runs apiece.

Jason Donald hit a two run homer for Cleveland.

Fausto Carmona allowed five runs over four innings to take the loss, falling to 6-6.
