Indians Use Long Ball To Slide Past Tigers

(DETROIT, MI) - Russell Branyan and Shin-Soo Choo hit solo homers to lead the Cleveland Indians past the Detroit Tigers 3-2.

Carlos Guillen gave Detroit the early lead with an RBI single off Jake Westbrook in the second inning.

Branyan homered off Jeremy Bonderman in the fifth and Choo hammered his shot off Bonderman in the sixth to give Cleveland the lead for good.

Mark Grudzielanek gave the Indians a needed insurance run with a single in the eighth as Alex Avila added an RBI single for the Tigers in the ninth.

Westbrook allowed a run on five hits in seven and two-thirds innings of work to get the win, evening his record at 3-3.

Bonderman took the loss to fall to 2-3.
