(LONG POND, PA) - Denny Hamlin picked up his fourth win of the Sprint Cup season, getting an easy win at Pocono despite a wild finish.
Hamlin led a race-high 88 laps and held a substantial lead over Tony Stewart when a crash between Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick brought out the yellow just before Hamlin crossed the start-finish line on the next to last lap.
Had Hamlin been able to reach the white flag before the yellow came out, the race would have been over.
Instead, a green-white-checkered finish ensued.
Hamlin took the white flag ahead of teammate Kyle Busch and clinched the win when a big accident involving Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, Greg Biffle and Jeff Gordon among others brought an end to the race.
Nobody was hurt in the spectacular crash that saw kahne's car get air born into the catch fence between turns two and three and land in front of the cars being driven by Martin and Biffle.
Stewart wound up finishing third behind Hamlin and Kyle Busch with Harvick coming in fourth and Jeff Burton finishing fifth.
Among the drivers with Indiana ties, Stewart's third-place finish was the best.
Stewart's teammate, Ryan Newman, finished 15th with South Bend's David Stremme coming in 22nd and Gordon getting knocked back to 28th thanks to the last-lap accident.
Harvick remains the points leader, but his advantage was slashed to 19 over Kyle Busch.
Hamlin is third in points, 136 behind Harvick.
