Cardinals Use Long Ball To Thump Blue Jays

Last updated on Wednesday, June 23, 2010

(TORONTO, ON) - The St. Louis Cardinals used four home runs to power their way past the Toronto Blue Jays 9-4.

Colby Rasmus hit a two-run homer with Yadier Molina, Matt Holliday and Felipe Lopez adding solo blasts.

David Freese also drove in a pair of runs with a go-ahead two-run single to cap the Redbirds' four-run top of the fifth.

The outburst helped offset a two homer, three RBI performance from Toronto's Jose Bautista, who holds the Major League lead with 20 home runs.

Jaime Garcia allowed three runs over six innings to improve to 7-3.

Brett Cecil took the loss to fall to 7-4.
