(UNDATED) - The denials are starting to filter in following a report on a Kansas City radio station that the Big Ten has made initial expansion offers to Notre Dame, Rutgers, Nebraska and Missouri.

WHB radio in Kansas City, citing multiple sources close to the situation, reported on Monday that the four schools have been extended offers although it is not clear whether the league will expand to 14 or 16 teams.

The Big Ten currently has eleven teams.

Notre Dame officials denied receiving an offer to join the Big Ten.

A source tells the Indianapolis Star that while Notre Dame has been in communication with the Big Ten regarding expansion, no formal offer has been extended.

Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman disputed the report that the Cornhuskers had been extended an offer to join the Big Ten to another media outlet.
