Last updated on Thursday, May 20, 2010

(ST. LOUIS, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals could not take advantage of the Cincinnati loss in Atlanta as they fell to the Florida Marlins 5-1 at Busch Stadium.

Anibal Sanchez blanked the Redbirds in his seven innings of work, allowing four hits while walking two and striking out eight to improve to 3-2.

The game was scoreless until Florida scored two runs in the sixth.

The Marlins blew it open with solo homers from Dan Uggla and Cameron Maybin in the seventh.

David Freese drove home the lone St. Louis run with an RBI single in the ninth as the Cardinals remain a half-game behind the first-place Reds in the NL Central.
