Phillips' Home Run Not Enough As Reds Fall To Pirates

Last updated on Wednesday, May 26, 2010

(CINCINNATI, OH) - Ryan Doumit hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth as the Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Cincinnati Reds 2-1.

The game was scoreless through seven as the Pirates' Paul Maholm and Cincinnati's Mike Leake dueled.

Pittsburgh got on the board in the eighth when Drew Stubbs lost Akinori Iwamura's fly ball, which fell and was scored a triple.

Iwamura would score when Neil Walker doubled on Leake's next pitch.

The Reds tied it in the bottom of the inning when Brandon Phillips homered of Pirates reliever Joel Hanrahan.

That set up Doumit's game-winner, a long drive off Cincinnati's Nick Masset.
