(CONCORD, NC) - Ryan Newman has the pole for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

The South Bend native turned in a lap of 187.546 miles per hour to capture his ninth pole at the track.

Kurt Busch, who won last Saturday night's All-Star Race, will start alongside Newman on the front row.

Jeff Gordon will start eighth while Newman's teammate and car owner, Tony Stewart, will start 26th.

South Bend's David Stremme was one of four drivers who did not make the field.
