Ludwick's Late Homer Pushes Cardinals Past Nationals

(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Ryan Ludwick hit a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the St. Louis Cardinals got past the Washington Nationals 3-2 to sweep a two-game series.

Felipe Lopez gave the Redbirds the early lead with a two-run shot in the third off Nats starter John Lannan.

Wil Nieves hit a solo homer off St. Louis starter Chris Carpenter in the fifth and Washington tied the game in the eighth on Ian Desmond's RBI single.

Ludwick won it with a two-out home run off Nationals reliever Tyler Clippard as the Cardinals won their eighth in a row over Washington at Busch Stadium.
