(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Officials from the Izod IndyCar Series say the drivers in this Sunday's Indianapolis 500 will receive 15 chances to use their "push to pass" buttons during the race.

The button gives the driver an extra boost of horsepower from the engine.

Each push of the button will give the car a power surge lasting 18 seconds.

The driver will have to wait ten seconds before the system resets and the push to pass system can be used again.

The push to pass button has been used in IndyCar Series races since last August's event at Mid-Ohio.

Sunday will mark the first time that the technology has been used in the 500.
