Carpenter Stays Unbeaten As Cardinals Shutout Reds

(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Chris Carpenter threw seven shutout innings to improve to 4-0 as the St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Cincinnati Reds 6-0.

David Freese put St. Louis up for good with a solo homer off Reds starter Aaron Harang in the second inning.

Ryan Ludwick added an RBI single in the third, Brandon Ryan had an RBI double in the fifth and Albert Pujols capped the scoring with a three-run double in the seventh.

Carpenter allowed two hits, walked three and struck out eight as the Redbirds took two of three in the series.

Harang gave up three runs on seven hits over six innings to take the loss, dropping to 1-4.
